Evening Hill revives memories for Heffer and Hughes

Memories of Canford Cliffs were brought flooding back when the orange colours of the Robin Heffer syndicate were carried by Pat Dobbs to sucess on Evening Hill.

The Class 6 mile maiden was a long way removed from the memories for winning trainer Richard Hughes, who rode Canford Cliffs in all his 11 starts.

Their association ended with injury in their 2011 defeat by Frankel in defence of the Sussex Stakes after which the Heffer-owned colt had amassed £950,000 prize-money for a winning haul including the Irish 2,000 Guineas, St James's Palace, Queen Anne and Lockinge.
