Eternal optimism is justified for PJ McDonald on Classic sixth Under The Stars

Being drawn widest of all is a fair handicap when there is a bend quite soon after the start but Under The Stars had the class to defy it.

Saeed Manana's Group 3-winning juvenile, sixth in the 1,000 Guineas on her return, came from behind to land the Listed 7f EBF Eternal Fillies' Stakes by a neck under PJ McDonald.

"Under The Stars had to do it the hard way," the jockey said. "I got a bit far out of my ground and for her to pick up like that was very impressive.
