Enable returns with a bang as she lands Coral-Eclipse under Frankie Dettori

Dual Arc winner Enable made a successful return to action in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday, scoring by three-quarters of a length under Frankie Dettori to extend her winning streak to ten.

Enable, who was making her first start for 245 days, raced prominently behind Hunting Horn and always looked like landing the prize for favourite backers.

Sent off at 4-6 after serious market support before the race, Enable struck for home two furlongs out and quickened clear of the field to take the £750,000 Group 1.

Dettori, who also struck earlier on the card aboard the well-supported Mojito, said: "Today was an eight and a half out of ten, but there's plenty more to come. She's amazing and I love her so much."

The in-form rider, who walked into the winner's enclosure to rapturous applause and chants from the crowd, added: "I can't even hear myself talk at the moment, it's amazing. She's special and this touches me.

"When she comes to the races her lights come on – she's the best. What she has achieved is unbelievable. I don't think we'll see another one like her."

Trainer John Gosden said: "It's been a long preparation and she's only started coming to herself the last two weeks. Quite frankly, she's come here at 85 per cent, maybe 90.

"I was slightly concerned in the last furlong but Frankie looked after her, it was a lovely ride. He always wanted to be where he was, he was keen to sit there and she's an exceptional athlete.

"To come from an eight-month layoff to win an Eclipse isn't an easy thing. She's done it all herself and the plan is the King George."

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Magical battled well to finish second under Ryan Moore, while Regal Reality, who was reluctant in the preliminaries, finished third under Kerrin McEvoy.

O'Brien said: "I'm delighted, it was a great race. She will have a little rest and we'll bring her back for the autumn. It's a privilege to be here and see Enable."

Enable was cut to between 4-5 and evens (from 5-2) for the King George, while she is the general 7-4 market leader (from 3) for her main target this season, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
