‘This is for you James’ - Barry dedicates Plumpton winner to close friend Banks
Lucy Barry dedicated her winner at Plumpton to former jockey James Banks, whose death last week rocked jump racing and hit close friend Barry particularly hard.
Barry landed the 2m4½f handicap hurdle aboard the Amy Murphy-trained Hawthorn Cottage, which sparked emotional scenes in the winner's enclosure.
Barry was in tears following her triumph and paid tribute to Banks, who was found dead at his home in Naunton, Gloucestershire, almost two years to the day since he called time on his riding career.
