Elliott tops the £1 million mark at Perth as Red Giant finally nets a big one

By finishing second with Swingbridge in the £20,000 3m handicap chase Gordon Elliott passed the £1 million mark for prize-money won on the track, where in 2006 he sent out his first winner with Arresting, who was ridden by Richard Johnson.

Elliott said: "I'm pleased to have done it, though I wish I had the £1m! I love coming here, it's a place dear to my heart as it was where I had my first winner."

Elliott has now had 172 winners at the course, however he added just one to the tally on this card in the shape of Braid Blue, who landed some good bets when justifying even-money favouritism in the 2m4f maiden hurdle, appropriately enough under champion Johnson.
