If Tuesday were a declaration of Willie Mullins' dominance, on Wednesday we witnessed the retort.

A day after the champion trainer won six of the seven races at Leopardstown Ireland's other powerhouse operations hit back. Three winners for Gordon Elliott – and one each for Henry de Bromhead, Joseph O'Brien and Mouse Morris – meant Mullins had to make do with just the bumper.

A Plus Tard's absence from the Savills Chase, due to a banged joint described as "a bit puffy" by De Bromhead, meant Conflated was the one they all had to beat, and it proved an impossible task.
