Elliott full of praise for Russell and O'Regan as he lands a double

The rest of the country may bemoan the lack of light as they wrap up against the winter chill, but for jumps fans in Ireland there was scarcely a better place to be than at Galway on Tuesday as the National Hunt season continues to crank up a notch.

Gordon Elliott was one of the happiest to be at Ballybrit. His post-race grin has been one of the constants of the jumps season in recent times, and after landing yet another double out west with Woods Well and Penny Jane the Cullentra boss was in typically playful mood.

Speaking after Woods Well took the 2m6½f Ryans Cleaning Chase, where Davy Russell was at his tactically brilliant best from the front, Elliott said: “The race suited him and Davy gave him a good ride and he jumped well."
