Elgin gets first part done for Elite as King piles pressure on Prescott

Alan King joked he had done his bit for the Elite Racing Club when saddling Elgin to win the £60,000 Listed handicap hurdle and playfully heaped pressure on Sir Mark Prescott, the man responsible for the syndicate's star sprinter Marsha, who was later due to contest the $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar.

Impressed with how Elgin fought once challenged under Tom Cannon, King stopped short of committing the five-year-old to the Unibet Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham this month.

"There was just enough rain for him to take his chance and he battled well," said King, who won the race with Raya Star in 2012.
