Elegiac strikes on first attempt at Listed level in Further Flight Stakes

Remarkable consistency was rewarded in the feature Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes, as progressive stayer Elegiac scored on his first attempt at Listed level.

The four-year-old colt, trained by Mark Johnston, has only once failed to finish out of the first four in 16 starts and ended a run of five seconds from six outings with a game success under Franny Norton in the staying contest worth £40,000.

Elegiac, owned by Steve Richards, Nick Browne and Ian Boyce, defeated Amazing Red by three-quarters of a length, with last year’s Lillie Langtry winner Pilaster three and three-quarter lengths back in third.
