Edwards lands his biggest win as Midnight knows the time of day

Journeyman jockey Lee Edwards secured the biggest success of his career when Midnight Target found what was required in the closing stages of the 2m5f mares’ novice handicap chase to thwart the late attentions of The Bay Birch.

Edwards said: “It’s very tough when you're scrubbing around as a jockey to pick up rides and you usually end up on no-hopers, but this season things have been a bit kinder and a few of the better horses have come my way, so I make sure I do my best on them.

“This mare is as tough as they come – as she showed when she refused to be denied up the hill, and I think the ground drying out after such a rotten winter may also have helped her cause.
