Eddie Edge rode his first winner under rules and handed trainer Gay Kelleway her first triumph over jumps since December 2007 as 25-1 shot Bolt N Brown pulverised the field in the 2m juvenile hurdle for fillies at Ludlow.

Edge, riding under rules for the 14th time, led for virtually all of the trip and opened up a 20-length gap to his rivals before the fourth from home. He was almost dislodged from his mount at the second-last but sat tight and the filly stayed on to see off Operatic Export by four lengths.

The result left Kelleway delighted and she was full of praise for the conditional jockey, saying: “I’m very chuffed, it’s giving me more pleasure than I’ve had in the last year,” she said, sipping some celebratory champagne.
