Edgar nears career milestone and eyes Cheltenham win next week

Kieron Edgar edged closer to riding out his claim when working the oracle on the JP McManus-owned filly Firmage Burg in the conditional jockeys' novice hurdle.

"That's 71 winners so four more to ride out my claim, finally," said Edgar, who into his eighth season is with the filly's winning trainer Harry Fry after years with David Pipe.

Firmage Burg had whipped round and refused to race for Barry Geraghty at Ffos Las three weeks earlier but Edgar's only problem was settling her into the race.
