Ed Dunlop’s aptly-named Global Giant lights up Dundalk under Gerald Mosse
The Dundalk winner’s enclosure seldom attracts a crowd but, like a moth to a flame, those in attendance on Friday night turned out to catch a glimpse of veteran French jockey Gerald Mosse as he returned triumphant aboard the Ed Dunlop-trained Carlingford Stakes winner Global Giant.
Second in a Group 3 over the course and distance a fortnight ago, the three-year-old didn’t enjoy the greatest of starts in his quest to become only the second British-trained winner of the Listed event, but 51-year-old Mosse scarcely looked in any hurry before picking his rivals off in the straight to win comfortably.
“He deserved that, seriously,” Mosse said. “I didn’t expect somebody to beat me the last time and I believe this race was similar but my horse knew the place and enjoyed the track.
