The decision to wear a face mask meant Aidan O'Brien had to manage without his spectacles as they were fogging up but he didn't need them to see the quality Admiral Nelson oozed in winning the five-furlong maiden for two-year-olds.

O'Brien has won the Coventry Stakes nine times and this pacy son of Kingman is likely to be on the team that vies to make it ten on Saturday week after readily disposing of stablemate Merchants Quay here.

In the belated first race of the year at the Curragh, Merchants Quay was sent off the 11-10 favourite under Seamie Heffernan. However, the Wayne Lordan-ridden Admiral Nelson (5-1) always looked to have him covered.
