David Dunne pulled off a well-planned raid when Xinbama and Franny Norton landed the final of the Summer Staying Series.

The younger brother of jump jockey Robbie Dunne had only a small window of opportunity with Bath's summer drought and made the first of his 12-hour trips to the track 11 days ago, when the nine-year-old effectively qualified for this final by finishing second.

Dunne, whose stable star Colla Pier retired in foal to leave him with just nine horses, said: "Today was the plan with Xinbama as Ireland isn't really the place for him as no track has the ground he wants.
