Ed Dunlop started an important week for his Newmarket yard on a winning note as Shawaaheq scored a second success of the season in gritty fashion from the front in the mile handicap at Lingfield.

Dunlop is getting ready to saddle stable stalwart Red Verdon in Saturday's £1 million Sky Bet Ebor at York and his runners appear in good form after Shawaaheq made it three wins in the last nine days for the yard under Jim Crowley.

"He was a little bit unlucky at Chelmsford last time so we thought the step up in trip would help," said Dunlop. "Jim was masterful in front and it was a very good ride."
