Battalion will stay close to home this winter after following up his recent debut success for Jamie Osborne with an impressive Listed win in the Betway Quebec Stakes.

Osborne was not present - "He fell off a horse yesterday and is black and blue," revealed part-owner Ian Barratt - but he will have enjoyed watching from home as Battalion quickened to lead entering the final furlong and came readily clear for a length-and-a-half defeat of Dubai Fashion. He now looks certain to abandon possible trips to Dubai or St Moritz.

Barratt is enjoying tremendous fun as a member of Melbourne 10 Racing and is now involved in "about 20 horses", after starting little more than a year ago with just Boomerang Bob.
