Dream for Dods as Nunthorpe-winning trainer brings up 50

Thick fog could not obscure a notable achievement for Michael Dods, as Dream Team emerged from the gloom to land the nursery.

It completed a maiden half-century of winners for a trainer who has twice in the past ended the year on an agonising 49 winners.

"That is the first time that Michael has trained 50 winners in a year in Britain so it is a landmark season for the yard," said jockey Paul Mulrennan, who has been on board many of them – most notably Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Mecca's Angel, and is having a fine season himself.
