In his typically witty way, Robbie Power summed up the most compelling chapter of his autobiography – "I have had worse weeks".

The Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey was evidently none the worse for the recent celebrations in Moone as he guided Val De Ferbet to a wide-margin win in the feature Suir Valley Chase, the second leg of a first double for Andrew McNamara.

"The original plan was to go to Thurles for a hurdle race at the weekend but I entered for this also," McNamara admitted afterwards. "He isn't an exceptional jumper but I thought this was worth a go and we may now have a look at the Thurles race as well if he comes out of this okay. His jumping was as good as I've ever seen today."
