There were plenty of moist eyes in the winner's enclosure after Double W's returned from nearly a year off the track to gain an emotional win in the 2m handicap chase under Leighton Aspell.

A classy performer on his day, he was forced onto the sidelines after suffering a bone cyst in his stifle last year, and the vets gave him little chance of racing again.

It certainly wasn't an easy return to action either, as it was a competitive event run at a strong gallop. Although the winner took time to warm up to his task he crept closer from the home turn and ran on with all his old enthusiasm to get the better of front-running Eyes Of A Tiger, who had been off the track for even longer.
