Dolphin Vista makes amends at Clairefontaine after unseating Soumillon
The omens were not good as Dolphin Vista ran loose after dumping Christophe Soumillon on the way to post at Clairefontaine, but all was forgotten come the race as the Ralph Beckett-trained six-year-old knuckled down to land the 1m1f Listed contest.
Winner of the 2017 Cambridgeshire when trained by Martyn Meade, Dolphin Vista claimed last year's Doonside Cup at Ayr for Beckett and scored at Listed level for the second time, despite running free beforehand and causing a six-minute delay to the race.
Beckett, who watched the events unfold on television, said: "He spooked at a bush, unseated Christophe Soumillon and ran loose for at least seven furlongs. He didn't go flat out and was perfectly fine to race and it's worked out well.
