Derby flop Rascal back to his best – and now Longchamp is the plan

It is no longer considered an Arc trial but victory in the Legacy Cup could still preface a trip to Longchamp in a fortnight for Young Rascal.

The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is not the destination, but the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay over a furlong short of two miles the day before could be.

The identification of that contest by trainer William Haggas illustrates the future he has mapped out for Young Rascal, who secured a short-head victory over Mirage Dancer, with Desert Encounter a further half-length back, on his first start since disappointing in the Derby.
