A double not long after Liverpool had sealed qualification for next season's Champions League meant a big grin stretched right across the face of former champion jockey Paul Hanagan, who seems to relishing being based back in the north - especially as it may allow him to make a few trips to Anfield.

Hanagan, whose titles came in 2010 and 2011 when attached to Richard Fahey's Malton yard, spent four years as Hamdan Al Maktoum's retained rider, but his contract was not renewed this season, so he headed back to his roots.

His brace came on the Fahey-trained pair Aimez La Vie in the maiden and Luis Vaz De Torres in the Class 3 7f handicap.
