If anyone needed any sort of clarity about who Britain's best two-mile chaser is at present they got their answer after Defi Du Seuil's stunning Clarence House Chase victory at Ascot.

Some firms went as short as 2-1 for JP McManus's seven-year-old to follow up in the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March and regardless of what Altior does in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury, there looks to be plenty of juice left in that price for now.

The winner appears to be the full package, an economical jumper who travels strongly and possesses a devastating turn of foot.
