Defeat cannot spoil 'perfect' day for trainer remembering father

It is not often that the 'perfect result' is being beaten a length and a quarter in the race you sponsored but this was a special day for Nigel Tinkler.

He supported the women riders' 5f handicap as a tribute to his father Colin, who died last year, and was delighted by the whole afternoon, which also featured a race commemorating his late father-in-law Eric Spink.

His Etienne Gerard had to settle for second place behind Mininggold in the main event, the only race of the year restricted to professional women jockeys.
