De Sousa admits defeat in title bid as Crowley maintains lead of ten

Silvestre de Sousa declared his battle with Jim Crowley in the Stobart Jockeys' Title to be "over", despite landing a double from his three rides on the south coast track.

De Sousa gained his first win on the card as the addition of a hood paid dividends for connections of Juanito Chico, who made-all in the 7f nursery handicap for trainer William Jarvis.

Beatbybeatbybeat comfortably made that two on the day for De Sousa – his last before jetting off to Kempton for six rides. However, while De Sousa was pleased with the double, when asked if he was still optimistic in the title chase, he simply replied: "It's all over."
