Dawn Raider wins again to keep in-form Gary Hanmer in the best of spirits
Tuesday: Leicester
After 31 consecutive defeats, Dawn Raider is now two from two as last month's seven-length success at Carlisle was followed by a six-length win at Leicester.
The Gary Hanmer-trained 15-8 favourite made light work of a 7lb higher mark in the 2m6½f handicap chase, cruising through the race under James Bowen before going clear with three to jump and winning by six lengths from Dr Oakley.
Hanmer said: "The horses are running well. He did it very nicely and I still think there's more improvement to come. He's bled in the past and we've tried all the conventional methods to prevent it, so we're trying something slightly different now.
Hanmer wouldn't give away the secret as to why his horses are running so well, but added: "Touching wood, it seems to be doing the trick. Long may it continue!"
Star Shines
The John Groucott-trained Star Of Rory got off the mark over fences in the opening 2m4f novice handicap chase.
Lee Edwards had to pull out all the stops on the run-in where the winner was hard pressed by Ashfield Paddy, but the pair prevailed by a length and three-quarters.
Dash Full Of Cash went off favourite for his chase debut but could not go the pace in the four-runner field and was tailed off.
Magic Marracudja
Marracudja took the feature 2m6½f hunter chase in taking style, winning by a comfortable eight lengths from fellow joint-favourite Indirocco.
The Dan Skelton-trained 11-year-old travelled smoothly upsides the runner-up before going clear on the run-in under Tristan Durrell.
