Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong – that's what odds-on punters were probably thinking after the Placepot-busting victory of 66-1 shot Kapga De Lily.

Midnight Shadow started 1-4 favourite for the four-runner novice hurdle but it was painful viewing for his backers as he followed wayward leader Keyboard Gangster, who tried to run out on the bend after the third flight.

Midnight Shadow hit the rail and unseated Danny Cook, but Callum Whillans got Keyboard Gangster back into contention, despite losing the best part of 20 lengths, and hit the front three out, only for his efforts to tell as he finished last of the three behind the rank outsider.
