Danzeno steps lively after time off to book third Wokingham bid

Danzeno booked his place in a third Wokingham at Royal Ascot after showing he was no back number at the age of eight in a race his trainer Mick Appleby has made his own.

Appleby, who has previously won the 5f handicap with Demora, Tangerine Trees and Escalating, had no hesitation in pointing Danzeno to the Wokingham in which he finished 17th last season and fifth two years ago.

“I thought he was nearly back to his best,” said Appleby. “When he came back from Dubai last year he was never right and had big problems with his feet, so we let his feet grow with a long time off.
