When the boffins at Jockey Club racecourses devised their grassroots series they were thinking of people like Robert and Julie Daly.

The retired couple from Basingstoke are grassroots racing in human form, so nothing could be more fitting than to see them win the £20,000 nursery final with £5,500 yearling Daddies Girl.

"This is the first year we've ever had horses," Robert Daly said.
