Daklondike repels veteran Grand Vision in Mandarin tussle

The five-year-old legs of Daklondike got the better of those belonging to 11-year-old Grand Vision in the Mandarin Handicap Chase in memory of the Lambourn legend who won a Cheltenham Gold Cup, two King Georges, two Hennessys and a Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris.

Whether races like that will feature on Daklondike's agenda are unclear, but what is known is how much he relishes a long-distance slog on heavy ground.

Trained by David Pipe and ridden by Tom Scudamore, Caroline Tisdall's youngster needed a few reminders, but was well in command on the run in from his older rival.
