Shark Hanlon's string is not as big as it used to be, and it shortened from 12 to ten after a couple of horses were fatally injured during the week, but a double on the first day of the Listowel festival certainly helped lighten the mood.

Stable star Hidden Cyclone was at the forefront of it as the now 11-year-old came back strongly from his narrow miss in last month's Galway Hurdle to land the 2m conditions hurdle under Danny Mullins, beating the consistent Draycott Place a little more comfortably than the length-and-a-half margin would suggest.

Hanlon said: "I'd say we'll stay in conditions hurdles for this season, I don't see him going back chasing, and I know he'll be a 12-year-old but I'd love to have another crack at the Galway Hurdle again next year.
