Crownthorpe continues Fahey spree as he plays catch-up

The Flat season might be in its infancy but the all-conquering Richard Fahey stable is already in a rush.

The impact of April showers on the fixture list has put Fahey behind in his yearly quest for 200 winners – something he achieved late in the day in 2017 – but Crownthorpe continued a productive couple of days for the Musley Bank trainer with victory in the Ripon "Cock O' The North" Handicap.

The progressive three-year-old's success added further gloss to the wins of Forest Ranger and Maybride at Newmarket's Craven meeting and Fahey's assistant Robin O'Ryan said: "The horses are fit and ready, and all the abandonments have been frustrating as we're definitely down a good few winners."
