John Gosden kept his unblemished record in the Houghton Stakes but only just as 2-5 favourite Dreamfield led home a one-two for Godolphin with Top Score beaten a short-head.

The Newmarket trainer, initiating a double, was making it three out of three in the AR Legal-sponsored Plus 10 race and will be trying to make it third time lucky in the Commonwealth Cup with the Oasis Dream colt next year after Tendu was ninth in the inaugural race and Shalaa was forced to miss this year's.

"Now we know this year that it is the Pavilion Stakes and then the Commonwealth Cup," said Gosden which had bookmakers putting him at 20-1 for the Group 1 at Royal Ascot.
