Although Clive Cox saddled a pair of impressive juvenile winners –Heartache and Prince Of The Dark – he left the course in an angry mood after Prince Of The Dark ran loose after unseating Adam Kirby and galloped through a barbed wire fence at the far end of the track.

After Prince Of The Dark had been caught and brought back in one piece to the racecourse stables, Cox said the youngster was relatively unscathed, but he made plain his upset over the incident.

The Hungerford-based trainer did not wish to comment on the record but there is no doubt he considers the racecourse should do more by placing white rail along the boundary on the top bend.
