Eoin Doyle may have advised his supporters to tread with caution regarding the chances of Ardera Cross in the beginners' chase, but Santa Claus appeared to be delighted by the seaside favourite's success as he greeted the six-year-old by the winner's enclosure.

"I'll be shot because I told them all he'd need the run, but we'll take what we get and this was a great Christmas present," said Doyle after the 4-1 joint-favourite's victory, making it a trio of Tramore career wins.

"We were worried about the heavy ground because any horse that wins here in August would have to be doubtful in December in that ground."
