Having contested three valuable 20-plus runner handicaps this season, life was much easier for the Charlie Fellowes-trained Repercussion in the feature £22,000 1m½f handicap and he grasped the opportunity in good style.

With two of the overnight declarations coming out on account of the ground he didn't have 20 runners to beat this time but four. After travelling well he was sent on by Richard Kingscote coming to the final furlong and, relishing the rain-softened ground, ran on in fine style to score by two lengths from Zwayyan.

Kingscote said: "He's a consistent horse who nearly always runs his race. Things worked out well for him today as I got a good tow into the race, there was plenty of room for him and he won well."
