Coleman and McAteer gain notable doubles as Queens Carriage completes hat-trick
Big races await Queens Carriage following her impressive return to turf in the 6f feature and kick-started a memorable double for trainer Kevin Coleman and young jockey Luke McAteer.
The second leg was completed when Aurora Eclipse, who partners Queens Carriage in all her work at home, snared the first division of the 6f handicap.
There is no doubting Queens Carriage is the class act in Coleman's yard and the trainer has big ideas for his filly, who completed a hat-trick following wins at Dundalk over the winter.
Coleman said: "She will go for the Midsummer Sprint now all going well, although there are a couple of other options. I am shocked that I haven't got one offer for her.
"She's by Mehmas and has won three races but I haven't been offered as much as €1,000 for her, which is mad really. We would sell her if the price was right.”
It was a first career double for Coleman, who added: “We are thrilled. The only reason Aurora Eclipse is still in training is because she leads Queens Carriage in all of her work. If she produced her work she would have won long before today, but for whatever reason she is just not straightforward.
"It's great to get the double and fair play to Luke, he always helps me out when it comes to riding work so it's good to be able to repay him.”
McAteer, who is based with Jim Bolger, turns 21 on Monday and he said: “I had a couple of doubles last season but it’s great to get another. Queens Carriage has a touch of class about her. Hopefully she can continue to progress.”
