Two classy hurdlers served up a tasty treat in the 2m beginners’ Chase, with last year’s Scottish Champion Hurdle runner-up Claimantakinforgan getting the better of Grade 2 winner Chesterfield as the pair impressed on their debuts over fences.

Both made minor errors in the home straight, but heading to the last there was little in it, Claimantakinforgan asserting only on the run-in to seal a two-and-a-half-length win as the 1-3 favourite.

Victory made it back-to-back wins in the race for owner Mike Grech and Stuart Parkin, following success last year with River Wylde, and the big-spending owners appear well stocked in the novice chase division this season.
