Chequered View benefited from the change to positive tactics at Southwell to hand the Princess Royal her first winner as an owner for more than three decades.

The five-year-old mare, who was also bred by the Princess, failed to deliver as favourite last month at Worcester, but made all and stuck on well to give her a first victory as a owner since she rode Cnoc Na Cuille, a horse she owned, to win a handicap chase at Worcester on September 3, 1987.

The Princess Royal has only had a sprinkling of runners down the years as an owner, and her three subsequent winners as a rider were for other owners.
