Chapple-Hyam harbours Cesarewitch dream for tough stayer Uber Cool
The Cesarewitch dream lives on for connections of Uber Cool after the teak-tough stayer did his chance of sneaking into the £500,000 Newmarket handicap no harm with a gutsy win in the feature 1m6f handicap.
It remains touch and go whether the 4lb penalty he collected along with a first prize of £12,602 will be enough to see him make the final 34 for the 2m2f contest but, if he does, winning trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam thinks he will be competitive on October 13.
“He was off for a long time after Royal Ascot because he got struck into and had to have eight stitches so it’s a good comeback,” said the trainer. “You’ve got to have patience and I think now that I’m in my 50s I’m learning what patience is all about!”
