Channon hits home a treble and is full of praise for stallion Sixties Icon

Mick Channon has long been a supporter of 2006 St Leger winner Sixties Icon as a stallion, and it is not hard to see why when two of his progeny landed the second and third legs of a treble for the in-form trainer.

The stallion was responsible for Westbrook Bertie, winner of the 1m2f handicap, and Billy Ray, who landed the 1m4f maiden. The Channon treble was initiated by Cotubanama in the opening 5f juvenile fillies’ conditions contest.

The West Ilsley trainer said: “I cannot understand why Sixties Icon, who stands at Norman Court Stud, which is only a few miles from this course, does not get more mares as he's much underrated. It’s all fashion in this country but his progeny all sell well abroad.
