Trainer Chris Gordon was sunning himself near Windermere, but had to share the praise with Champs Inblue's former trainer Pat Phelan after the gelding stayed on strongest in the 1m3½f handicap.

The son of Champs Elysees was this year switched to Gordon by owner Paul Cox, who had nothing but kind words for the Epsom-based Phelan.

"I've got to split the credit for this horse," explained Cox, an electrical contractor from Sussex.
