England's batsmen will be hoping for plenty of half centuries in the second Ashes test which starts on Saturday, and there was a brace of 50s brought up at Southwell as trainers Archie Watson and Iain Jardine reached the milestone for the first time.

Watson is in his first full year with a licence but has made great strides already and made it 50 winners for 2017 when Isstoora, who was making her debut for the yard, won the mile maiden by three-quarters of a length.

Reflecting on the year, Watson said: "We've been very fortunate that the horses have been running consistently and we've maintained a nice steady flow of winners. I couldn't do it without my team and we've got some great owners."
