Castle bounces back for Bailey to land first success in two years

Following a disastrous spell over fences earlier this summer, Patsys Castle was switched back to hurdles by trainer Kim Bailey and the ploy paid off handsomely with a ready victory in the 3m2f handicap chase.

Bailey said: "After he crashed through the second fence at Newton Abbot last month he returned with such a bad gash on a foreleg we wondered if we would ever get him back, and it was touch and go for a day or two.

"But fortunately after a lot of attention he recovered. It's been a case of getting back his confidence, which was totally shot. It has only been over the last week or so that he has jumped hurdles properly at home and this win is down to all the hard work by everyone at home."
