Captain Chaos gained a deserved big-race success when turning the 888Sport Grimthorpe Handicap Chase into a procession.

There were 54 lengths back to runner-up Worthy Farm and only three horses finished in the attritional conditions, but the Dan Skelton-trained nine-year-old was not winning out of turn.

"He's been second in two Rehearsal Chases, second in the Rowland Meyrick and second in the Classic Chase," said Skelton. "He's been a bit of a nearly horse and to win a nice staying handicap is great for him. He's come back as bright as he went out, which is unusual in those conditions."
