Laurina may have grabbed the headlines at Punchestown but Noel Meade made a good fist of grabbing a footnote of his own as the trainer carded a 129-1 treble.

The performance of Cap York in landing the final Irish qualifier for next month's Pertemps Final at Cheltenham was the most significant, even if there was an element of luck about it.

The winner and the Joseph O'Brien-trained Choungaya raced down to the final flight together, and Choungaya looked to be gaining the upper hand, albeit marginally, when he came down, leaving Meade's runner under Sean Flanagan to come home three-and-a-quarter lengths in front of Mormon, another Gigginstown-owned novice.
