Cap fits for Brennan as in-form O'Brien praises 'quality' rider
Paddy Brennan, jocked off Cue Card on Wednesday, did not have to wait too long for the smile to return thanks to Cap Soleil's impressive victory in the mares' novice hurdle and if the jockey needed a further confidence boost it came from the four-year-old's trainer Fergal O'Brien, a founding member of the rider's fan club.
Brennan was not in the mood to discuss trainer Colin Tizzard's decision to replace him on the popular chaser with Harry Cobden, but – just like O'Brien – was happy to give chapter and verse on Cap Soleil, who was stretching her unbeaten run to four races.
"She's got everything," he said. "She goes to sleep, she comes home. First time over hurdles to do what she's done there – I've never done that on a filly first time.
