Champion jockey Richard Johnson looks set to sit out the next couple of days after aggravating a bruised right shoulder when his mount Westend Story was brought down in a three-horse pile-up in the 3m maiden hurdle won by Step Back.

A disconsolate Johnson said before leaving the course: “I've jarred my right shoulder, which is still a bit sore from a fall at Market Rasen on Sunday. It’s probably unlikely I'll ride at Huntingdon [on Thursday] and it's questionable whether I'll ride on Friday either.

“It will be a case of how I feel with Cheltenham just around the corner, but all being well I would think I'll be back at Chepstow or somewhere on Saturday.”
