A packed family fun day crowd was treated to a thrilling duel in the 2m4f beginners' chase as Brother Tedd made the most of his experience over fences to get the better of Beat That.

Although the marginally inferior of the two over hurdles, the Philip Hobbs-trained grey was tackling fences for the seventh time, in contrast to two-time Grade 1 winner Beat That, who was making his chase debut on his second start following a mammoth layoff.

Richard Johnson was the first to get to work on Brother Tedd at the top of the home straight, but his mount responded gamely and held his narrow advantage on the run-in to score by half a length.
